Understanding VIDEO to AUDIO Conversion
Sometimes you only need the audio from a video — a podcast recorded as video, a music performance, a lecture, or a voice-over. Extracting audio strips the video stream entirely and saves just the sound track. Our tool reads the video file, identifies the audio stream (or streams), and exports it as a standalone audio file. When the audio codec is already in a common format (AAC, MP3), extraction is essentially instant with no re-encoding or quality loss.
When to Convert VIDEO to AUDIO
Here are common scenarios where Extract Audio is the right choice.
Creating podcast episodes from video recordings
Recorded a Zoom call or video podcast? Extract the audio track to publish as an MP3 or AAC podcast episode for listeners on the go.
Saving music from concert or live recordings
If you recorded a live performance on video, extract the audio to listen to the music without needing a video player.
Isolating voice-overs or dialogue
Film editors and content creators often need audio tracks separately for mixing, dubbing, or transcription purposes.
Extract Audio — Frequently Asked Questions
Detailed answers to the most common questions about this conversion.
The default output is MP3 for maximum compatibility. If the original video contains AAC audio, we can export it as-is in an M4A container for zero-loss extraction.
When the audio is exported without re-encoding (same codec), there is zero quality loss. If conversion to a different format is needed, high-quality encoding settings are used.
Currently the full audio track is extracted. To get a specific segment, use our Audio Cutter tool after extraction.
The primary (default) audio track is extracted. Support for selecting specific tracks (e.g. different languages) is available for premium users.
